Heidelberg University (UHD)

The coordinator of the programme is the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). The School has been at the forefront of educating Greek architects since its foundation in 1917. It fosters an approach in which architecture functions as a vehicle for cultural continuity, with the study of history, the urban experience, and the landscape being translated into contemporary ways of understanding and transforming space. Architectural education in Athens shapes architects who perceive design as a cultural act and a means of spatial continuity between history and the social and critical environmental challenges of our time.
On the part of Heidelberg University (UHD), the implementing institution is the Heidelberg Center for Cultural Heritage (HCCH). The HCCH is one of Heidelberg University’s central research institutions, which is committed to sustainable networking as well as the long-term development of the existing competencies at Heidelberg University in the field of tangible, intangible and digital cultural heritage. It seeks to provide an academic response to the manifold challenges arising in relation to the study and preservation of humanity’s cultural heritage, by creating an interdisciplinary network of expertise in research and teaching.
